you know our names, and now our story

July 2016, Nashville, Tennessee.
The night was warm, the beer was cold, and Katy was late. Sitting at the bar in The Flying Saucer downtown, the conversation flowed as easily as the beer and we were excited to meet again. What followed was something neither of us could have predicted.Like all classic love stories, ours began with a swipe on an app. And after a few texts, our first date was set. Fate had other plans, however, if fate was over 20 middle-aged women in cowboy boots and pink cowboy hats. Because when Corbin arrived to where they were to meet, that’s what he found. Quickly the plan was changed to a spot he knew they could get in without a reservation, a rarity in Nashville, even back then.It has been a whirlwind of adventure together ever since. Last minute plane tickets for weekend trips across the country. Meeting Corbin’s parents for the first time in Washington, D.C., and his college friends in Austin, eating an extra cheese Domino’s pizza in bed at the fanciest hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, going on a secret mission to Huntsville, discovering the World’s Largest Cedar Bucket in our own backyard, and starting our week-before-Christmas 36 hours in New Orleans tradition, just to name a few. But for every journey away from home, there was one in it. Countless nights in enjoyed with each other, our amazing framily, the cats, and sometimes a $12 hot dog costume. Then it all changed. In March of 2020, a tornado ripped through our neighborhood in the dead of night. A week after, the pandemic began. But through the change and chaos of it all, we grew even closer together. We learned new ways to surprise each other even though we were stuck at home in a 714 square foot apartment. Corbin made bread…twice. He also built a website for Freya so Katy could see how she was doing that day. We started a Wednesday at-home cinema night to share our favorite films.July 2021, Asheville, North Carolina. Standing at the statue of Diana at Biltmore. The day was warm, the ring was ready, and the rest was yet to come.

The Wedding Party

Nashville for the discerning visitor

Nashville has exploded in popularity over the years and for good reason — we know how to have a good time. Here is our guide to getting the most out of your trip to Music City.

Stay

  • Sonder - Kind of like Airbnb, but kind of like a hotel. One your best options for staying in Nashville.

  • Airbnb - An economical choice for larger groups and longer stays.

  • Virgin Hotels Nashville - One of the newest, and swankiest places to stay in town. Rumor has it the bride and groom have a suite for the night.

  • The Fairlane Hotel - Mid-century modern vibes off Broadway and always something to see & drink in the top floor penthouse.

  • Germantown Inn - Small, boutique hotel right in our neighborhood.

  • Everything Else - Use Google Hotel search to narrow your dates, prices, and neighborhood.

Eat
Bourdain style, no reservations.

  • Babo Korean Bar - Order the gochujang JFC, kimchi fried rice, and wash it down with a shot of soju.

  • Bolton’s - One of the original hot chicken shacks. But if you can't handle heat and want to stand in line for an hour, sure, go to Hattie B's.

  • Burger Up - Corbin's favorite burger in Nashville. Oh, and Krispy Kreme donut pudding.

  • Edley's BBQ - Brisket, pulled pork, and catfish slow and low.

  • Five Points Pizza - Our go-to for a weekend pie. Side of ranch not optional.

  • Greko - Greek street food turned up a notch.

  • Joyland - Burgers, shakes, and more from our favorite Nashville chef, Sean Brock.

  • Maiz De La Vida - Taco truck serving birria and street corn outside our favorite tiki bar, Chopper.

  • Mitchell Deli - You'll find here us almost every Saturday grabbing a sandwich and reading a Nashville Scene.

  • Redheaded Stranger - Just trust us on this one. The best tortillas and tots in town worth waiting in line for.

  • Smith & Lentz - Wood fired pizza in the middle of a brewery. And they put a cat on the box.

  • Superica - Tex-Mex and margs, but put your name on the waitlist first.

  • Yeast Nashville - Kolaches and other breakfast treats. Get there early!
